Bryan Zaragoza received a customary tunnel of playful slaps from his new Espanyol team-mates on Friday morning, marking his first session after landing in Barcelona late on Wednesday and signing on Thursday. According to AS, the workout came on the eve of a match, usually held at the RCDE Stadium.

Espanyol visit Real Sociedad at Anoeta on Saturday. Zaragoza has been assigned the number 15 shirt, with his LaLiga registration still to be finalised, and he could feature if cleared.

If he does play, it would neatly link back to his last top-flight outing. On 25 January, while on loan at Celta before that spell was ended to begin another at Roma, he started and completed 90 minutes in a 3-1 defeat at Anoeta under Claudio Giráldez.

Anoeta also hosted his first away goal in LaLiga with Granada. He struck in minute 99 of the 5-3 visit on 2 September 2023, a milestone that reaches three years next Wednesday.

Despite having trained only once with Espanyol, there is recent precedent for quick involvement. Vanja Drkusic came on in the second half against Real Madrid last week, in the same week he arrived.

Unai Núñez was also used immediately after joining, starting at the beginning of the month in the friendly against Coventry.
