Barcelona may have to rethink their plans for strengthening the full-back positions, as one of their main targets appears set to remain in Germany.
Recent reports from SPORT suggest that Borussia Dortmund are not willing to consider offers for Julian Ryerson, despite growing interest from several top European clubs.
The Norwegian defender has been one of Dortmund’s most reliable performers this season.
At 28, he is enjoying a strong run of form, and his market value has continued to rise as his performances remain consistent week after week.
That level of stability and experience is exactly what Barcelona have been looking for in the transfer market.
In recent weeks, Ryerson’s name had been linked with a possible move to the Catalan club.
It is known that Barcelona are keen to add a dependable and versatile full-back who can provide balance and depth across the defensive line. Ryerson seemed to fit that profile perfectly.
One of his main strengths is his flexibility. He is comfortable playing on both flanks, which makes him a valuable option in modern systems where full-backs are often required to adapt to different roles.

For Hansi Flick, such a player would have offered an important tactical solution, especially when it comes to managing the workload of players like Jules Kounde.
The Norwegian still has a contract with Dortmund until 2028, and within the German club, he is considered a key part of the squad.
He is a regular starter and among the players with the most minutes this season.
Beyond his performances on the pitch, Ryerson is also seen as a player who fully identifies with the club’s project.
His attitude, consistency, and ability to cover multiple defensive roles make him a valuable asset for the coaching staff.
Because of that, Dortmund are not planning to open the door to negotiations. The club’s stance is firm, and they are not considering a transfer at this stage.
For Barcelona, this means the search for defensive reinforcements may have to continue elsewhere.
