FC Barcelona lost out on a potential source of revenue as their former player Oscar Mingueza ran out his contract with Celta Vigo, and thus, would join his new club as a free-agent. The Blaugrana club had a 50% sell-on clause in this contract, and therefore, they would also not be getting anything for a player from which were expecting to get a significant amount of money some time ago.

However, there are still several other former players from which the Catalan club can earn money. One such player is the fullback Sergino Dest, who is now a PSV Eindhoven player, but who is currently participating in the World Cup 2026 with the USA national team and impressing everyone with his performances.

Barcelona own 20% of his rights, and can earn some money from him this summer as SPORT notes that his good performances with his club and country are attracting the attention of some bigger clubs. The Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen is particularly interested in him, after seeing Alejandro Grimaldo leave for Atletico Madrid.

The Dutch side is demanding €25 million for their player, but while it remains to be seen how their negotiations will go, the operation is expected to cost the Germans more than €20 million. As a result, the Blaugranes can get around €5 million for their former defender.

The fullback himself has also expressed his desire to leave Dutch football to take the next step in his career, and even joked about a return to Barcelona, where his first stint did not go exactly as planned. For now, Bayer Leverkusen would be a very good option for him to continue his growth and development, and his transfer can also leave a significant amount in the Catalan club’s coffers, which they can use to further strengthen their team this summer.
