On September 28, 2025, Barcelona fans made a donation exceeding 5 million CFA francs to the presidential "Faso Mibo" initiative, which puts the people of Burkina Faso at the heart of urban development projects and efforts to break the country's isolation. With this donation, the Catalan club's supporters responded to their Madrid rivals, whose contribution amounted to just one million.

On the eve of Real Madrid’s crushing 2-5 defeat against Atlético Madrid in the capital’s derby, the timing couldn’t have been better for Barcelona’s fans in Burkina Faso, making their celebration all the more complete. Under the guidance of the country’s Barcelona Fan Club Association, Barça supporters gathered on September 28 to make a civic contribution to the "Faso Mibo" presidential initiative, headquartered in the heart of Ouagadougou, specifically at Philippe Zinda Kaboré High School.

Even the morning rain (8:45 GMT) couldn’t keep them away. Stung by the pride of Real Madrid fans’ earlier donation weeks before, and to honor this historic global rivalry, Barcelona fans in Burkina Faso decided to answer back in style—raising their contribution to five times that of their rivals.

The donation is valued at over 5 million CFA francs and includes 15 tons of cement, 90 tons of granite, one ton of rice, school supplies, 10 wheelbarrows, 100 bags of water, and 3 footballs. "The Barcelonistas" came from all over Burkina Faso, also donating blood for wounded soldiers, and helped manufacture and install pavements to support the development and beautification of the major cities in the land of "upright men."

In a festive and friendly atmosphere, Widrago Marcel, known as "Parizo 2 Barcelona", president of the Barcelona Fans Association in Burkina Faso, called on supporters of "the other club" (Real Madrid) to stage a "remontada" as well, emphasizing that this would benefit the development of Burkina Faso.

Notable Burkinabè athletes such as Charles Kaboré, Bertrand Traoré, Edmond Tapsoba, Bertrand Traoré, and Dango Ouattara have already paved the way for sporting contributions to the "Faso Mibo" presidential initiative. "Faso Mibo" is a name formed from two languages: Faso in the Dioula language means "homeland", and Mibo in the national Mooré language means "building". This is a homegrown initiative launched by Captain Ibrahim Traoré, calling on the people of Burkina Faso to build their own nation through voluntary contributions, rather than relying solely on outside support.
