Burkina Faso: Hossam Hassan praises the Stallions

On September 9, in the "hell" of the 4 August Stadium in Ouagadougou, Egypt managed to snatch a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Burkina Faso thanks to their experience and defensive resilience. In the post-match press conference, the Pharaohs' legend and current coach was full of praise for the Burkinabe national team.

At the final whistle of this clash in the eighth round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, coach Hossam Hassan, his staff, and the entire Egyptian squad erupted in celebration. In the cauldron of the 4 August Stadium, the Pharaohs battled hard and secured a valuable point with a goalless draw. Hossam Hassan, who famously knocked out Burkina Faso on their own turf in the 1998 Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals with a historic brace, was asked about his return to Burkinabe soil.

I am very happy to return to Ouagadougou and the 4 August Stadium. I saw an excellent Stallions team. These are not the same Stallions I faced in 1998 during the Africa Cup of Nations. I celebrated this draw against such a strong side; we had to give everything we had not to lose. We came with two goals: to win or to draw. I am satisfied with this result.
