That's according to a report from Africafoot on Saturday, as the Clarets are evidently wasting no time with their summer recruitment strategy following their promotion to the Premier League.

Scott Parker is bracing for what will surely be a busy summer of ins and outs at Turf Moor, as the club look to get themselves in the best possible shape for a big survival bid next term.

As revealed by Africafoot on 24 May, Burnley are competing with Crystal Palace and Borussia Mönchengladbach for the signature of midfielder Faveurdi Bongeli.

The 18-year-old plays in his home country, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, for Linafoot - the top flight of DR Congo football - side TP Mazembe.

Les Corbeaux (The Ravens) are 20-time Linafoot champions, and the current champions from the 2023/24 season.

Africafoot claim that Bongeli is expected to be one of the young DR Congo stars to "liven up" the summer transfer window, and that several clubs are taking an interest in acquiring his services after his impressive displays this season.

It's said that Bongeli has become TP Mazembe's starman this term, having contributed a number of goals and assists, as well as winning a number of penalties for his team.

Back in March, Africafoot revealed that French side Dunkerque and Belgian outfit Sint-Truiden both had the midfielder on their radar, as he is evidently a player who's name is beginning to spread across European football.

Saturday's report claims that talks have now intensified in recent days over a potential transfer.

Bongeli could be a star of the future - He would surely be a low-risk, high-reward signing for Burnley

Little is yet known about Bongeli, or just how high his ceiling may be, but it's clear that a number of top European clubs have been impressed with what they've seen.

Borussia Mönchengladbach are a big and established Bundesliga club, whilst Crystal Palace's ability to spot and develop young talent needs no introduction.

As such, the fact that these two clubs are seemingly in the mix for his signature alongside Burnley are perhaps strong indicators as to how talented the DR Congo youth international may well be.

Transfermarkt have the teenager down as being a winger who can operate on either flank, and Africafoot - who are obviously far more in tune with Bongeli's talent and performances - clearly rate him as one of the most exciting prospects in the nation at this moment in time.

Therefore, given his age and where he's playing his football at the moment, it's safe to assume his signature wouldn't set Burnley back too much, and should he reach his potential, they could well unearth a gem that lands them a big payday in the future.

Of course, there are plenty of variables in-between that reality coming true, none greater than the fact they need to secure his signature first, but a move to English football could see Bongeli truly announce himself as one of African football's most exciting prospects of the future.
