Queens Park Rangers beat Cardiff City 2-1 at Loftus Road to rise from fourth to second in the Championship, extending their unbeaten start to four matches.

In the 36th minute, Rumarn Burrell turned in from close range after a corner to put the hosts ahead.

After the restart, Burrell rifled a second into the top right (53.) from Ronnie Edwards' through ball on a fast break.

Perry Ng halved the deficit with a left footed strike into the top left (74.), converting an Ollie Tanner delivery, but the hosts stood firm.

Nathan Trott kept Cardiff in it with a smart stop to thwart Alfie Lloyd soon after the second goal, while Queens Park Rangers mustered 20 attempts across the game.

Cardiff drop from 18th to 19th and remain winless. Queens Park Rangers host Middlesbrough next. Cardiff City visit Portsmouth.
