BVB Secures Decisive Round-One Victory Behind Inácio's Brace | OneFootball

With Hamburg area native Alexander Meyer in goal and a total of seven lineup changes from the Bundesliga match against HSV (2-0 win), BVB dominated the game and created early chances — including three narrow misses by Inácio — but initially operated too predictably while lacking attacking urgency and dynamism around the Oberliga team’s penalty area.

For over half an hour, the side from Hamburg's Eimsbüttel district bravely resisted countless BVB attacks. However, Borussia took the lead in the 33rd minute, courtesy of an own goal by team captain Wrede. Julian Ryerson, BVB’s top assist man from the previous Bundesliga season, was instrumental in the buildup and also played provider on two of Dortmund's next three goals before halftime. Although he appeared to be offside, Fábio Silva extended his team's lead over the fifth division outfit to 5-0 (59'), following a pass by Veerman. The game subsequently lost much of its intensity. Nonetheless, with a 36-2 shot count as of the 85th minute, there could have easily been more goals.
