CAF Cup: Chérif Dine Mama rescues a draw for Coton FC against FC San Pedro
Benin’s vice-champions, Coton FC of Ouidah, managed to secure a 1-1 draw away to FC San Pedro this Saturday in Côte d’Ivoire, in the second qualifying round of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The Ivorians struck early, taking the lead in the 13th minute through Kassi Théodore. FC San Pedro appeared to control the opening half, putting Coton FC’s defense under sustained pressure.
But the visiting Beninese side showed real grit and collective strength. Right at the start of the second half, Chérif Dine Mama, set up perfectly by Rodrigue Fassinou, found the back of the net in the 46th minute to bring Coton FC level.
This away equalizer is a valuable result for Coton FC, who now prepare for the return leg in Lomé on October 25, 2025, aiming to seize the advantage and book their spot in the group stage.
