Cristian Chivu oversaw his second Serie A win in charge of Inter Milan as the Nerazzurri beat Cagliari 2-0 on Saturday night.

According to Riccardo Trevisani via FCInterNews, the 44-year-old is a ‘perfect’ choice for the San Siro club.

Goals from Lautaro Martinez and Francesco Pio Esposito fired Inter to a comfortable victory at the Unipol Domus.

In addition to extending their winning away streak against Cagliari to six games, Inter posted their second consecutive win in Serie A.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri finished Matchday 5 only three points behind new pacesetters AC Milan.

Once again, Chivu proved that he trusts Esposito, introducing the 20-year-old striker at the expense of Marcus Thuram in the second half.

Furthermore, Esposito repaid that trust with a well-taken goal to seal Inter’s victory.

Chivu’s belief in the ex-Spezia loanee warranted plaudits from Trevisani.

“The management of Pio Esposito is excellent,” he said. “It’s not easy at a time when there isn’t a meme about the player every minute.

“Chivu isn’t afraid to take risks with him. Indeed, when Esposito scored, he celebrated more than he did for Thuram’s 3-2 goal in Turin.

“Pio Esposito or Camarda? By the end of the season, it will be seven goals to six in favor of Pio Esposito.”

“He’s doing a lot of small things,” Trevisani said. “I think the concern was not to completely overhaul the team.

“Inter played very well for four years, but he’s adding his own touches.”

Furthermore, Trevisani hailed Chivu’s decision to replace Yann Sommer with Josep Martinez.

Indeed, the Romanian coach benched the Swiss veteran after an awful performance against Juventus.

Therefore, the Spaniard has become Inter’s new No.1 choice between the sticks.

“In Turin, he subbed off Lautaro and Barella at the 60th minute, then waited a game before giving Josep Martinez a chance.

“Martinez has 18 Serie A appearances, so patience is needed, but he’s handling it well.”

Despite a stuttering start, Chivu has steadied the ship, with Inter showing notable signs of improvement.

Next on Chivu’s list of assignments is taking three points against Slavia Prague in the Champions League.
