Another Celtic FC Women star has been called up to represent her country in the upcoming Euro 2025 qualifiers.

Caitlin Hayes has been chosen for the Republic of Ireland squad that will take on England and France later this month. Hayes played a massive part in the Celtic squad that secured the SWPL title last campaign and will no doubt spur us on to victory again this season.

After winning their League B group in last year’s Nations League, the Republic of Ireland are competing in League A for their EURO qualifiers. They were drawn in an incredibly difficult group comprising of France, Sweden and England and they currently sit bottom with zero points.

But despite the national team’s form, Hayes has clearly impressed enough to have earned herself a place yet again.

Elsewhere in the world of international football, new Celtic signing 18-year-old Amy Richardson has been given her first senior call-up for Wales. One to keep an eye on so we can see what type of player we have on our hands. They face Croatia and Kosovo on the 12th and 16th of July respectively.

Kelly Clark was the only Celtic player named in the Scotland squad for our games against Slovakia and Serbia. If you want to support the captain, tickets are available to purchase for the Serbia game, which will be played on the 16 July at Partick Thistle’s Firhill Stadium. How the country’s top scorer and most creative player Amy Gallacher can’t get anywhere near that Scotland squad is a compete and utter mystery.

If international football isn’t your thing, we first reported yesterday evening that Celtic Women will face off against Swedish champions Hammarby on 7th August, with the news of that fixture being broken by The Celtic Star last night.  So hopefully, more friendlies will be announced in due course and you won’t have to wait too long to get your Hoops fix.

Nice to see Izzy Atkinson in the Irish squad alongside Caitlin Hayes. Izzy holds a very special place in many a Celtic heart for her brilliant extra time winner in the Women’s Scottish Cup Final against Glasgow City at Tynecastle in May 2022.

The very best of luck to our Irish Ghirls against the English and French.  COYGIG!
