Riccardo Calafiori hoped to become a key player for Roma, but fate had another path in store for him.
From Basel to Arsenal: the Roman defender became a champion of England with the Gunners, and in a few days he’ll be playing in the Champions League final.
Speaking to Sky Sport during the media day ahead of the match against PSG on May 30th, the 2002-born defender spoke about the Roman club and much more.
Regarding the league triumph, the former Roma player said: “It went very well, a wonderful celebration that will be difficult to match. In some ways, it’s better to have won like that than on the pitch. The anticipation and the jinxing of City were wonderful.”
The 2002-born player revealed that whenever he can, he watches “his” Roma: “I watch Roma and Bologna games every now and then… I hope Roma can get into the Champions League, they’ve been away for a long time and I’d be happy. On Sunday, I’ll be celebrating, but I’ll watch the match against Verona on my phone because it’ll be too important…”
