Andrea Cambiaso is one of the most important players in the Juventus team, and his versatility allows him to operate as either a left full-back or a right full-back.
The defender is undoubtedly one of the best players in the squad, and he is expected to play whenever he is fit. However, he is currently working his way back to full fitness after missing the opportunity to represent Italy during this international window.
Had he been fully fit, Cambiaso would probably have been included in the Italy squad. Instead, he remained in Turin and continued preparing for his return to competitive action.
Juventus organised a friendly match against Cremonese and Cambiaso was included in the team. Tuttomercatoweb reports that he started the game in the number 10 role, a position that is unfamiliar to the versatile defender.
Luciano Spalletti used the fixture as an opportunity to experiment with his players. He therefore deployed Cambiaso further forward, rather than using him in his usual full-back or wing-back role.
However, the experiment did not produce the desired outcome. Juventus lost the match, while Randal Kolo Muani also struggled to make an impact in attack, meaning there was little encouragement for the team from the friendly.

Return to a familiar position
Cambiaso’s performance in the number 10 position is unlikely to change his role for the rest of the season. The Old Lady will have its main midfielders back after the international break, reducing the need to use the defender in an unfamiliar area.
Once he returns to full fitness, Cambiaso is expected to move back into the position he knows best. His ability to play on either side of the defence makes him a valuable option, but Juventus will probably benefit most from using him as a full back or wing back.
