The Eredivisie match between SC Cambuur and Feyenoord was halted for around 20 minutes after fireworks were launched from the away end during the hosts’ 2-5 defeat.
The club said in a statement that several of its supporters were injured and that it would assist authorities to identify those responsible.
The stoppage came in the first half after rockets and fireworks were fired from the visiting section. Several projectiles headed towards Cambuur’s stands, and one landed on the pitch a few metres from Feyenoord goalkeeper Tjark Ernst.
The incident was publicly condemned by both clubs, the city’s mayor and the Dutch football federation.
The match, played on Sunday, still produced seven goals, but the flashpoint overshadowed the action.
