The return leg between Cameroon and Algeria, scheduled for this Tuesday, promises to be decisive for both women’s teams. After suffering a defeat in the first leg in Oran (2-1), the Indomitable Lionesses cannot afford any more mistakes if they want to secure their ticket to the 2026 Women’s AFCON. The Algerian side, meanwhile, arrive in Cameroon with a clear goal: to finish the job and seal their qualification for the final tournament.

The Lionesses with their backs against the wall

Cameroon, who had never lost to Algeria in an official competition, now find themselves in a precarious position. The setback in Oran has left its mark, especially as the Algerians displayed impressive tactical discipline and ruthless efficiency, scoring two stunning free-kick goals courtesy of Karchouni and Dafeur. For this second leg, head coach Jean-Baptiste Bisseck has reshuffled his squad, calling up two new players from the domestic league, Lewyo Djapa Mogaï (Lekié FF) and Elam Ekosso (Éclair FF de Sa’a), to replace Mireille Tchengang and Mayi Kith, who are unavailable. The Lionesses will need more attacking inspiration and, above all, must avoid the defensive lapses that cost them dearly in the first match.

Kick-off time and broadcast channels

The match will kick off at 3:30 p.m. (local time, GMT+1) at the Stade de la Réunification in Douala. The Cameroon – Algeria match will be broadcast live on the following channels:

On the other side, Algeria travel with confidence. Buoyed by their historic win, Radia Fertoul’s squad hope to confirm their progress. The Greens are dreaming of a second consecutive qualification for the AFCON, a symbol of the rapid rise of women’s football in the country. Still, there are lingering doubts over Lina Boussaha and Melinne D’Oria, who picked up minor knocks and were rested in training.

After their resounding victories over South Sudan in the previous round (5-0, 3-0), the Algerians are eager to keep up their impressive momentum. Their objective is clear: to cement their reputation as a new powerhouse in African women’s football and secure a historic qualification for AFCON 2026. Against a determined Cameroon side seeking revenge, the battle promises to be electric on the Douala pitch.
