Earlier this evening, Hannover 96 officially announced that Marcel Hartel has joined the club and penned a contract until 2029.
The second-division side is reportedly paying a total package of around €1million to Major League Soccer club St.Louis City.
Hartel has been in St.Louis since 2024, and had stints with 1.FC Köln, 1.FC Union Berlin, Arminia Bielefeld, and FC St.Pauli.
To date, Hartel has made 30 appearances in the Bundesliga and 185 in the 2.Bundesliga, with more to follow with Hannover.
“Marcel is a player whose game intelligence, technical quality, and decision-making perfectly match the profile we were looking for,” said H96 sporting director Ralf Becker.
"He finds solutions in tight spaces, moves intelligently between the lines, and is a goal threat. He also possesses excellent set-piece quality.
"Marcel can play a crucial role, especially when it comes to bringing clarity to our play in the final third and converting those chances into goals.
“He knows the league, has repeatedly proven his ability to take on responsibility in successful teams, and his profile and experience will be a direct asset to us."
