It has been some time since FC Barcelona restarted playing their home games at the Spotify Camp Nou, and they were also able to enjoy a particularly memorable night at their historical stadium when they were handed the La Liga trophy after the 2-0 win over Real Madrid last Sunday.
However, the construction work at the stadium is still not completely over, and it might disrupt the team’s activity once again going forward, at the start of the 2027-28 season, to be more precise.
The roof of the stadium is planned to be installed in the summer of 2027, and as this process is expected to take around 4-5 months, the team might have to play the first few matches of that season away from Camp Nou.
Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo reports that the Blaugrana club has already started taking measures to secure a solution for this problem, and for this purpose, they have requested the Barcelona City Council to make the Montjuic available for their home matches.
This planned roof is set to be one of the most iconic features of the new stadium, but for its installation, the team might have to play away from Camp Nou.
Expanding the capacity of the Estadi Johan Cruyff was another option for Barcelona, and despite the request to the city council, the Catalans would make a final decision among these venues at a later time.
