Camp Nou update: First seats installed in the third tier of Barcelona’s stadium | OneFootball

The redevelopment of FC Barcelona’s stadium, Spotify Camp Nou, continues to make steady progress, following the team’s return to the ground last November after over two years away.

Construction company Limak has begun installing the first seats in the third tier of Spotify Camp Nou, providing another visible sign of progress on Barcelona’s stadium redevelopment, reports Mundo Deportivo.

Only a small number of seats have been fitted so far, but the work reflects the latest stage of the construction process. Waterproofing work is also being carried out in the area.

The third tier will not be fully completed until next season, meaning Barcelona will not be able to operate the stadium at its full capacity of around 105,000 spectators during the current campaign.

Third tier expected to open partially in 2027

Barcelona expect part of the third tier to open during the current season, with the first quarter of 2027 the anticipated timeframe.

The first seats have been installed in the Lateral section, opposite the Tribuna area. The stadium currently has capacity for around 62,000 spectators, with the entire redevelopment scheduled to be completed in summer 2028.

The gradual opening of the third tier will allow Barcelona to increase the number of supporters attending matches as construction progresses.

VIP boxes also taking shape

Work is also continuing on the VIP areas, which are located between the second and third tiers.

Glass panels were installed in these areas during the summer, and the spaces are now moving closer to becoming operational.

Barcelona’s budget for the coming period includes an expected €60 million increase in stadium revenue, reflecting the additional commercial opportunities that will become available as more areas of the renovated Camp Nou open.

In addition to all this, the club has also been carrying out lighting tests at the stadium in recent days.

The panels installed on the stadium’s structural framework feature LED systems, with testing taking place during the evenings using different colours.

Installation is not yet complete across every section, but the system is ultimately expected to cover the entire exterior of the stadium.

The arrival of the first seats in the third tier marks another step towards the eventual completion of Spotify Camp Nou, with the stadium continuing to expand its capacity as the redevelopment advances.

The aim is to be at full capacity for the 2028/29 season, with Camp Nou set to host the UEFA Champions League final in 2029.
