A 100% North African final four in CAN 2025?

The bracket for the second round of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2025) is set after the conclusion of the group stage.
Based on how the teams are distributed, there’s a real possibility of seeing a 100% North African final four for the first time in the tournament’s history.
Tunisia will take on Mali in the round of 16, and if they advance, they’ll face the winner between Sudan and Senegal on January 9 in Tangier.
If Egypt overcomes Benin, they’ll meet the winner between Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso on January 10 in Rabat.
Meanwhile, Morocco must dispatch Tanzania to book a quarter-final showdown with either Cameroon or South Africa, also on January 9 in Rabat.
Finally, Algeria faces DR Congo and, if successful, awaits the winner between Nigeria and Mozambique on January 10 in Marrakech.
If all four North African sides manage to win their next two matches, we’ll witness a historic final four: Algeria vs Morocco and Tunisia vs Egypt. It would be a first in the tournament’s annals.
