Senegal head coach Pape Thiaw has sparked the anger of Cesc Fàbregas by calling up Assane Diao for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Como's manager, Cesc Fàbregas, is struggling to come to terms with the official call-up of Assane Diao to the Senegal squad for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco. Speaking at a press conference this Saturday, the Como boss admitted he had spoken with the player and then with the Lions' head coach, Pape Thiaw, but the two sides failed to reach an agreement.

"I'd rather not go into too much detail on the matter. He was called up and I spoke with him after the match against Inter. He knows exactly where I stand. I also spoke with his national coach, but the conversation didn't end very well," the Spanish manager told the press. However, Fàbregas confirmed that the club will respect the decision of the player and the Senegalese Federation. "They have every right. Diao will leave if he wants to," Fàbregas stated.
