CAN 2025: Côte d'Ivoire squad announced, Wilfried Zaha returns
Côte d'Ivoire head coach Emerse Faé has just unveiled the list of Ivorian players selected to compete in the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
With just 12 days to go before the kickoff of AFCON 2025, Emerse Faé's Côte d’Ivoire have revealed their squad for the tournament. Among the selected players are former Toulouse keeper Alban Lafont (Panathinaikos) and former Angers man Yahia Fofana (Rizespor) among the goalkeepers. In defense, Guéla Doué (Strasbourg) makes the list, joined by Emmanuel Agbadou (Wolverhampton) and Evan Ndicka (AS Roma). Wilfried Singo (Galatasaray) is missing from the roster.
In midfield, seasoned campaigners Franck Kessié (Al-Ahli), Seko Fofana (Stade Rennais), and Ibrahim Sangaré (Nottingham) have all been called up. Jean-Michael Séri, now playing in Slovenia with NK Maribor at 34, also gets the nod. Up front, Amad Diallo (Manchester United) and Evann Guessand (Aston Villa) feature, alongside Sébastien Haller (Utrecht) and Bundesliga sensation Yan Diomandé (RB Leipzig).
After not being called up since the end of 2023 and missing the last home AFCON, Wilfried Zaha (Charlotte FC) makes his return to the national team. Nicolas Pépé (Villarreal) is absent. The standout young talent from the previous edition, Simon Adingra (Sunderland), has been left out.
In Group F, the Elephants will face Mozambique, Cameroon, and Gabon.
