Sadio Mané - Claude Le Roy
Now a consultant for Canal+, Claude Le Roy played a pivotal role on Sunday evening during the CAN 2025 final between Senegal and Morocco.
As the Lions of Teranga headed back to the locker room last night during the CAN 2025 final to protest the penalty awarded to the Atlas Lions, Claude Le Roy, former coach of Togo, Congo, Ghana, Senegal, and Cameroon, convinced Sadio Mané to rally his teammates and return to the pitch. The seasoned tactician also confirmed that the Moroccans came to speak with him as well.
"Walid (Regragui), whom I know very well and who is a fantastic coach, came and asked me: 'What did you say to them?' I replied: 'Well, I told them they had to get back out there and resume the match.' Then, when the Senegalese returned to the field, some Moroccans said to me, 'Bravo Claude!' They were delighted the game was going to continue. At that moment, everyone thought Morocco would convert their penalty and win the final—nobody could have imagined Brahim Diaz would attempt that outrageous panenka and miss. Afterwards, a member of the Moroccan staff jokingly told me, 'In the end, you made us lose.'" he told Le Parisien.
