CAN 2025: Morocco unveils its squad! (Official)
Walid Regragui has finally lifted the veil on Morocco’s much-anticipated squad for the CAN 2025, which the country will host from December 21 to January 18. Unsurprisingly, Achraf Hakimi is among the 28 players selected, despite an injury that kept him off the pitch in the Champions League. “Even if he’s not ready for the start, he’s here,” the coach remarked, highlighting both the symbolic and sporting importance of his right-back. Buoyed by an impressive run of 18 consecutive wins, the Atlas Lions will enter the competition with the clear status of favorites.
Regragui has also called up a solid core, led by Nayef Aguerd, Yassine Bounou, Azzedine Ounahi, and Brahim Diaz, with two reserves on standby. Morocco will compete in a challenging Group A, alongside Comoros, Mali, and Zambia, where there will be no room for error from the opening match against Comoros on December 21 in Rabat. Hamza Igamane, sidelined with an injury at LOSC, has only made the reserve list. This decision underscores the coach’s determination to field a fully fit squad with a single goal: bringing home a trophy that has eluded Rabat since 1976.
