Morocco secured their place in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2025) by overcoming Nigeria after a nerve-wracking night (0-0, 4-2 on penalties).
The Atlas Lions remain unbeaten in the tournament, consistently buoyed by the unwavering support of the crowd at Moulay Abdallah Stadium in Rabat.
Ahead of their showdown with Senegal on Sunday, January 18 at 7pm GMT in the tournament final, the Moroccans can take solace in a statistic that’s firmly on their side.
According to the X account "Stats Foot," which specializes in football statistics, the host nation has triumphed in 6 of the last 7 Africa Cup of Nations finals.
The only final lost was Nigeria’s defeat to Cameroon in the 2000 edition.
At the last tournament, hosts Ivory Coast lifted the trophy against Nigeria, following in the footsteps of Egypt in 1986 and 2006, Algeria in 1990, South Africa in 1996, and Tunisia in 2004.
