Canada have qualified for their first men’s Fifa World Cup in 36 years.
The feat was achieved with a comprehensive win over Jamaica in Toronto on Sunday.
Goals from Cyle Larin, Tajon Buchanan, Juniot Hoilett and a late own goal from Adrian Mariappa ensured the home fans were in raptures at BMO Field.
The Canucks have been in the wilderness in terms of the top table of international competition since they last competed at Mexico ’86.
However they have made great strides under Englishman John Herdman since he took charge in 2018.
Canada become the first team to qualify from the Concacaf section, ahead of both Mexico and the USA.
