MIAMI – The FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup Morocco 2025 continues with the start of its Quarterfinals as Concacaf nation Canada faces Brazil on Saturday at Olympic Stadium of Rabat in Rabat, Morocco.

This will be the second time in history that Canada shares the pitch with Brazil in the U-17 category, having played against each other in the 2010 Group Stage. The South Americans took the win on the previous occasion.

Canada has had a perfect run since beginning the tournament, reaching the Quarterfinals with a record of 4-0-0 and 18 goals scored, while only conceding two. The Canucks are the only other team, besides Spain and Italy, that has not been behind in its four games so far.

Many players have taken the spotlight with their precision in front of goal. One of them is Daniela Feria-Estrada, who scored a brace against Zambia in Canada’s Round of 16 match. Melissa Kekic is another key player, recording three goals in three games.

The winner of the encounter will book its place in the Semifinals on Wednesday.

All-Time series

Canada and Brazil will meet for the second time in the history of the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup. Their first encounter took place on September 13, 2010, in Group D of the tournament in Trinidad and Tobago, where Brazil claimed a 2-0 victory with goals from Paula Vicenzo and Thaisinha.

For Canada, this marks its fourth appearance in the quarterfinals. The North Americans’ best run came in Uruguay 2018, when they defeated Germany 1-0 thanks to a decisive goal from Jordyn Huitema, securing their first and only trip to the semifinals. In their other three attempts, the Canadians were eliminated:

·       2008: lost 1-3 to Germany in New Zealand.

·       2012: fell 1-2 to Korea DPR in Azerbaijan.

·       2014: defeated 2-3 by Venezuela in Costa Rica.

Throughout their quarterfinal history, Canada has been powered by standout scorers such as Nkemjika Ezurike, Nichelle Prince, Sarah Kinzner, Marie Levasseur, and Jordyn Huitema.

Brazil, meanwhile, is appearing in the quarterfinals for the fourth time, still seeking its first-ever trip to the semifinals. The South Americans have been eliminated in each of their previous three attempts:

·       2010: lost 1-2 to Spain in Trinidad and Tobago.

·       2012: fell 1-2 to Germany in Azerbaijan.

·       2022: defeated 0-2 by Germany in India.

This clash in Morocco will also mark the seventh meeting between Canada and a CONMEBOL nation in U-17 Women’s World Cup history, with Canada holding a record of 7 matches played, 2 wins, 1 draw, and 3 losses, scoring 7 goals and conceding 8.

For Brazil, it will be the sixth encounter against a Concacaf opponent, entering the match with three consecutive games without a win. The South American side has a record of 5 matches, with 2 wins, 2 draws, and 1 loss, scoring 5 goals and conceding 3.
