Canadian international set to swap Anderlecht for Villareal | OneFootball

After impressing at the World Cup with Canada, Nathan Saliba looks set to depart Anderlecht in the coming days. According to HLN, the Canadian international is set for a move to La Liga and Villareal, where he will jion up with former Club Brugge winger and fellow Canadian international Tajon Buchanan. Saliba only joined Anderlecht last year but was said to be eyeing up a transfer this summer after a solid World Cup campaign with one of the host nations.

The fee Villareal are set to pay is said to be in the region of €15m, with Anderlecht agreeing a sell on fee. However, part of the money coming from Villareal for Saliba will also have to go to his former club, Montreal. Anderlecht are looking into potential replacements for Saliba in central midfield. The 22-year-old joins Villareal after playing 50 games for Anderlecht, scoring five goals. He also provided one assist during that time.

During the World Cup, Saiba scored once and provided two assists as Canada made it to the Round of 16, where they eventually lost to Morocco.
