If there’s one thing that defines Tapatío, it’s the steady growth of several homegrown players. Among them is Leonardo Jiménez, who is putting together a solid Clausura 2026 with the top representative of the Cantera Rojiblanca. Let’s take a closer look at his path and the present he’s building with the Rebaño Sagrado.
Where is Leonardo Jiménez from?
Born on April 1, 2003, in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Jiménez left his hometown to settle in the Perla Tapatía and pursue his dream within Club Deportivo Guadalajara. That move marked the beginning of a developmental process that is now starting to bear fruit.

His arrival to the Cantera Rojiblanca
Leonardo joined the Sub 15 squad in the Apertura 2018. From his first tournaments, he showed consistency and qualities that caught the club’s attention. In his initial campaign, he played 13 matches and contributed two goals, offering clear signs of his potential.

His on-field characteristics
Jiménez plays as a right back or right wingback, a position in which he has maximized his stamina and ability to cover ground. This allows him to contribute in both defensive and offensive phases, providing width down the flank and balance within any system that requires it.
His development with Tapatío
He made his debut with Tapatío in the Clausura 2023, logging his first minutes against Cancún FC. Since then, his involvement has steadily increased, establishing himself as a regular option in the Red-and-White starting XI. His growth even earned him a spot in the Clausura 2026 preseason with the first team under Gabriel Milito, an experience that further validated his projection.
His numbers in the Clausura 2026
In the current tournament of the circuito de plata, he has played all six matchdays so far, all as a starter, totaling 512 minutes and scoring one goal. Those figures reflect continuity, trust, and the strong form he is enjoying within the squad.

Leonardo Jiménez represents the developmental pathway promoted by Guadalajara: patience, hard work, and gradual consolidation—values that are clearly reflected in his present with Tapatío.
