Carey cancels out Stewart as Southampton dominance brings only a draw

Southampton 1-1 Charlton Athletic at St Mary's, a result that leaves the hosts 11th in the Championship and lifts the visitors to 17th.
In the 48th minute, Ross Stewart glanced in a header from the centre of the box after Léo Scienza's cross to put Southampton ahead.
Sonny Carey levelled with a crisp strike from outside the area (67.), finishing Greg Docherty's lay-off to punish the Saints.
Thomas Kaminski produced key saves either side of the break as Charlton Athletic held firm under pressure, while Daniel Peretz denied Lyndon Dykes from close range (77.) to keep the tie level.
Ten minutes of second half stoppage time were indicated after late treatment for Collins Sichenje, and the Saints forced a flurry of corners, but Charlton Athletic cleared their lines.
Southampton dominated the ball with 71.6% possession and fired 23 attempts, forcing eight on target and winning nine corners. Charlton Athletic mustered six attempts and one corner, but their back line made 54 clearances, with Kaminski finishing with six saves.
