Carl Starfelt ruled out of Valencia trip with back pain | OneFootball

Celta Vigo’s Sweden international Carl Starfelt will miss the trip to Valencia after a flare-up of lower back pain. The club said in a statement that the defender has experienced increased discomfort in recent days, and has been prescribed rest and specialist treatment.

Starfelt will not be included in the squad for the Mestalla fixture, a setback given he has been a regular starter this season.

His condition will be reviewed continually and he is set to begin a recovery plan aimed at returning to training in the coming days. There is no timeframe for his comeback, but there is confidence the issue is not serious.

The discomfort has been lingering and followed two matches with Sweden.

Captain Iago Aspas is also unavailable as he continues to recover from a left Achilles tendon problem. The injuries are not considered major and the pair could make the Freiburg match, although that will depend on how they feel.

Celta visit Valencia on Sunday 5 April at 16:15 in LaLiga EA Sports matchday 30 at Mestalla. Claudio Giráldez has called up 24 players for the game.
