Carlo Ancelotti assesses Brazil draw with Australia in Townsville

Coach Carlo Ancelotti analyzed the 1-1 draw between Brazil and Australia at Queensland Country Bank Stadium in Townsville this Friday (25). In a press conference, he regretted the chances missed throughout the match and explained that one of his goals in this squad call-up is to run tests.

“It doesn’t really feel like a defeat because it was a draw, but I think the team could have won, we had opportunities. It was difficult to play on this pitch, and it’s true that after we conceded, the team reacted. In the end, it was a fair draw. We have to be patient because these are tests we need to carry out, to give opportunities to players who play less and keep moving forward because this was a test and the next one will be another test,” he said.

He also commented on the team’s current moment, as they took the field today for the first time since their World Cup campaign.

“It’s not the beginning of a cycle, it’s the continuation of one that started last year, and now the priority is to give minutes to players who play less and who have potential, like Endrick and Estêvão, and we’re going to keep going in this direction. The fans have to be patient. When we have official competitions, the team will be ready. It was neither positive nor negative. There were some good things, it’s true that we had opportunities to open the scoring, we lacked a bit of precision in the final third, the team fought until the end, didn’t want to lose and didn’t lose,” he added.

Brazil will face the Australians again next Tuesday (29) in a match to be played at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, starting at 7 a.m. Brasília time (8 p.m. local time).
