Rayan denies Australia famous win over Brazil with last-gasp equaliser | OneFootball

Australia were denied a famous victory over Brazil as Rayan’s stoppage-time header rescued a 1-1 draw in Queensland.

The Socceroos made a bright start, with Nestory Irankunda and Conor Metcalfe causing problems for the visitors, while Patrick Beach was also called into action to keep Brazil at bay.

Brazil thought they had taken the lead shortly before half-time when Estevão found the net, but the goal was ruled out by VAR after Bruno Guimarães was adjudged to have fouled Harry Souttar in the build-up.

Australia continued to threaten after the break and finally got their reward in the 68th minute. A foul on Paul Okon-Engstler presented Irankunda with a free-kick, which the winger brilliantly curled into the top corner beyond Hugo Souza.

Tony Popovic’s side looked set to hold on for a memorable win, but Brazil found a late equaliser. Raphinha’s corner picked out Rayan, whose powerful header beat Beach in the 95th minute.
