Carlo Ancelotti has set about refreshing Brazil after their World Cup disappointment, targeting the emergence of a new generation while retaining trusted leaders.

L'Équipe reports that the Italian coach’s focus is renewal. Brazil were beaten 2-1 by Norway in the last 16 on five July.

The defender Vitor Reis, 20, and forwards Estevao, 19, and Endrick, 20, headline the youthful cohort, with Marquinhos, Bruno Guimaraes, Raphinha and Vinicius Junior still central to the plan.

Ancelotti said he is convinced Raphinha and Vinicius will be fundamental in the years ahead. He also vowed to keep selecting Estevao, who has been struggling at Chelsea, to give him opportunities to develop.

He welcomed as very positive the move by Brazilian clubs to reduce the foreign player quota per team from nine to five by 2030, arguing it protects abundant homegrown talent.

Brazil face Australia in friendlies on Friday in Townsville and on Tuesday in Brisbane, then meet India on three October in Calcutta.
