Carlos Alcaraz, Aitana Bonmatí among Laureus 2026 nominees as Madrid unveils April gala

The Real Casa de Correos in Madrid hosted Tuesday's presentation of the Laureus 2026 awards gala. The ceremony will be held in the city on 20 April.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, Carlos Alcaraz, Aitana Bonmatí, Marc Márquez and Kilian Jornet are among the finalists, alongside Ousmane Dembélé, Aryna Sabalenka and PSG.

Other contenders include Mondo Duplantis, Tadej Pogacar and Jannik Sinner.

The shortlist also features the European Ryder Cup golf team, Brazil’s Joao Fonseca, Colombia’s Egan Bernal and Venezuela’s Yulimar Rojas.

In the Paralympic category, Brazil’s Gabriel Araújo and Ecuador’s Kiara Rodríguez are nominated. It will be the third consecutive year Madrid stages the awards.
