Goalkeeper coach Carlos Gómez has left Castellón after nearly 300 matches and seven seasons with the first team, confirming his departure on social media.
The coach said in a post that he was grateful to the club for its trust and to supporters for standing by the team in good and bad times. He also thanked colleagues, players and, above all, the goalkeepers, calling it a journey of shared work, joy and learning.
Castellón also issued a statement thanking him for his service over the years and his contribution to the development of first team goalkeepers during his time at the club.
Gómez is not the first backroom departure this summer. On Monday the club announced Rody Hoegee’s move to Feyenoord, one of the Netherlands’ biggest clubs and current Eredivisie runners-up.
The club must now look to the market to strengthen two key staff roles alongside its player recruitment. Gómez said he leaves satisfied that he gave everything, that the memories will endure, and he signed off with his initials PPO.
