Carlos Palacios has suffered a setback in training ahead of Boca’s Copa Sudamericana round of 32 second leg against O'Higgins in Chile, putting his participation in doubt. According to LaNumer12.com.ar, the forward aggravated a muscle problem during the final session before the trip.
He had been a rare positive early in the week after overcoming an overload in his right pectineus, completing Monday’s small‑sided work with those who played few minutes against Deportivo Riestra. However, Tuesday’s intensity forced him to withdraw early.
The pain reappeared in the same area, a poorly timed blow for Rodolfo Arruabarrena less than 24 hours before the squad are due to fly to Chile.
The next hours will decide whether Palacios travels or is omitted from the match in Rancagua. He will undergo medical checks and, if possible, be put through his paces. It is most likely the Vasco will leave him out, given his policy of avoiding physical risks.
While unwelcome, the issue concerns a player not viewed as a starter by Arruabarrena. By contrast, Leandro Lozano, one of three signings this window, is considered first choice and has recovered from a strain in his left semimembranosus. He should be ready to join the travelling party on Wednesday after midday for Thursday’s tie.
