Carlos Soler joins long list of Valencia academy graduates to score against former club | OneFootball

Carlos Soler scored at Mestalla on Sunday, this time for Real Sociedad. With Oyarzabal absent, he was presumably on penalties and beat Stole Dimitrievski, then apologised to the crowd. It was his first goal there as an away player.

According to Superdeporte, Valencia have conceded to a former player in 16 successive seasons, academy graduates making the trend sting.

The sequence included Miku in 2011/12 after a free move to Getafe, then in 2012/13 Arizmendi, Aduriz, Chori and Alexis, plus Isco Alarcón for Málaga, who repeated two years later.

In 2013/14 Javi Guerra scored for Real Valladolid. Up to 2017/18 others followed, among them Aduriz, Alexis, Jonathan Viera, Joaquín, Soldado and André Gomes, then Portu and Jordi Alba.

Two years later Paco Alcácer netted, while Mario Suárez, Sergio Canales and Dani Parejo also scored.

Kang In Lee scored in 2022/23, then Nacho Vidal and Samu Lino the season after, with Ferran Torres doing so the year following.

Last season Ilaix Moriba struck against Valencia, and now Carlos Soler has joined that list.
