Carlos Vinícius hit a hat-trick as Grêmio beat Botafogo 5-3 at the Arena in the second round of the Brasileirão 2026.

According to Globo.com, Tetê created Grêmio's first with a cross and later scored after the interval, while substitute Amuzu supplied two assists and transformed the game with pace and dribbles.

Edenílson was well placed to turn in the fifth from an André Henrique rebound. André missed a clear chance and could not convert a fine Amuzu pass, but his hold-up play helped start the move for the fifth.

At the back, Weverton had one errant charge from goal and, on the concessions, was largely left exposed. Balbuena was caught for Botafogo's first and also gave Montoro room to find Danilo for their second. Wagner Leonardo could not stop Arthur Cabral for their first and his deflection contributed to the third.

João Pedro offered an outlet on the right and is building understanding with Tetê, though the balance with Balbuena needs work. Marlon pushed high but lacked precision with the final action.

Arthur Melo controlled midfield and improved his defensive work after the break, with Noriega distributing well but still bedding in with the back line. Monsalve was quiet and did not track Danilo for the second.

Willian added intensity with bursts and incisive passes in the second half. Pavón struggled with execution, while Dodi came on late and was not graded. Head coach Luís Castro started Pavón but introduced Amuzu at half-time, and the marking improved after the interval.
