Former England defender Jamie Carragher launched a scathing attack on Mohamed Salah on Sunday, following Liverpool’s defeat to Manchester United (2-1) in the Premier League.
Speaking on "Sky Sports," Carragher argued that Liverpool had reached a point where Salah should no longer be considered an automatic starter. He pointed out that the Reds were facing two major away challenges: first against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League, and then against Brentford in the Premier League.
According to Carragher, it wasn’t essential to start Salah in both matches, suggesting that young talents like Alexander Isak or Florian Wirtz could be given opportunities instead.
However, Carragher did acknowledge that Salah remains an influential player whose involvement should be managed carefully depending on the nature of each game.
Responding to Carragher’s comments, former Egypt international Ahmed El-Mohammadi leapt to his compatriot’s defense on platform X: "Oh Jamie you again without him you won nothing so stop your nonsense and get a grip !"
Liverpool, the reigning Premier League champions, are enduring a tough spell this season. The club has suffered consecutive defeats against Crystal Palace, Chelsea, and Manchester United in the league, as well as a disappointing result against Galatasaray in the Champions League.
