Barcelona’s 3-1 triumph over Elche was not just another three points in La Liga; it was also a performance that helped restore belief within Hansi Flick’s side, especially after defeat in El Clasico.
Midfielder Marc Casado, who was handed a starting spot in place of the injured Pedri, spoke candidly after the match about the importance of the result and the renewed confidence in the dressing room.
Reflecting on the team’s mindset, Casado explained, “The goal was not only to win the three points, but also to regain the team’s confidence.”
The youngster went on to underline how the group feels positive momentum is building after the win, and also recognised there is still room for progress.
“I think we come out of today’s game with a lot of momentum, and of course, there are things we will continue to improve on in the coming games.”
He also shared some insight into the squad’s mentality during the week, revealing that senior figures like Robert Lewandowski continue to push for higher standards.
As Casado put it, “During the week Lewandowski said we need to be self-critical and we have to improve.”
According to him, that sense of accountability has been vital for Barcelona’s recovery.
The midfielder added that “it was positive because we are fully aware of what needs to be improved. We finished the game with confidence and determination.”

Another key contributor against Elche was Alejandro Balde, whose link-up with Lamine Yamal led to Barcelona’s opening goal.
Balde, only 22 himself, has developed a strong friendship with the teenage prodigy and often acts as a guiding figure for him both on and off the pitch.
Speaking about Yamal, Balde showed both admiration and understanding for the pressures his teammate faces at such a young age. He said,
“It’s true that he’s always in the spotlight, but I think Lamine is a great professional despite his young age.”
The left-back went further in his praise, highlighting just how extraordinary Yamal’s rise has been.
“What he is doing at only 18 years old is incredible. Sometimes people don’t appreciate him as they should. At this age, what he is doing cannot be described in words,” he noted.
