Hull City sporting director Jared Dublin has restated his wish to sign Leeds United loanee Joe Gelhardt permanently this summer. “On the Joffy one, it's very clear,” he told Hull Live.

Gelhardt scored his 11th Championship goal in Saturday's 3-1 defeat to Queens Park Rangers, his first since returning from a hamstring injury in late January.

The 23-year-old hit eight in 10 league games between October and December. Leeds had a January recall clause but chose not to trigger it.

He is due back at Elland Road in the summer and is contracted until 2027. Leeds were open to a sale last year and are expected to listen to offers if they avoid relegation.

The Whites sought £3-4million last summer, a fee that could rise after a double-figure campaign. Whether Hull can meet that remains unclear.

“Division [is] probably the most important, and with Joffy in particular, where Leeds are, should they maintain Premier League status or come down, so there's loads of moving parts."

“I've been very vocal, the chairman, the gaffer, Joffy knows how much we love him, how much we value him, how much we would love for him to continue his Hull City story. That's case closed on that one. We'll see what happens."

Should Leeds stay up, they are expected to strengthen in Gelhardt's positions, making an exit more likely. Relegation would complicate matters, with his role dependent on outgoings.
