Cassiano brace and VAR penalty lift Casa Pia into 13th

Casa Pia beat Arouca 3-2 at Estádio Municipal de Rio Maior to rise from 15th to 13th in Liga Portugal.

Barbero headed Arouca in front in the 11th minute from Tiago Esgaio's set-piece delivery. Rafael Brito levelled with a close-range header (21.), before Cassiano swept in after a Jeremy Livolant break (25.) to turn it around.

Arouca were back on terms when Abdu Conte turned into his own net (37.). João Pedro Goulart Silva was then fouled in the box. VAR confirmed the spot kick and Cassiano converted (45.).

After the restart Arouca pressed, but goalkeeper Patrick Sequeira preserved the lead, notably saving from Pablo Gonzalbez in the fourth minute of second half stoppage time.

Arouca had 69.1% possession yet produced eight attempts. Casa Pia posted 11 attempts, four on target.
