Cássio Brandão calls his book Manto Alvinegro a love letter to Corinthians, charting 100 iconic shirts. The limited edition launches on Saturday at the Museu do Futebol with club figures and guests.

According to Meu Timao, Brandão is a Guinness-certified collector with more than 6,000 shirts, about 1,700 from Corinthians, and conceived the project in 2020 to tell the club’s essence through its shirts.

He gathered chronicles from 40 notable supporters, including idols like Rivellino, Casagrande and Basílio, plus figures from the arts and media. The opening texts are by President Luís Inácio Lula da Silva and club president Osmar Stabile, chosen for the symbolic weight of their offices.

The most cited shirt, picked by seven contributors, was Basílio’s from 13 October 1977, worn in the win over Ponte Preta that ended a 23-year title drought.

Weighing 5.2kg, the book comes in a black fabric box. Each of the 1,910 numbered copies includes a certificate, a no-reprint pledge and gloves for handling the special photo paper.

Beyond essays and photography, eight exclusive works by artist Newton Mesquita recreate kits from 1910 to 1955, including the maroon Torino tribute from 1949. A chronological guide covers every model worn from 1910 to the current season.

Brandão said sales will pay club royalties, and 20 copies will be donated, including one for the Memorial at Parque São Jorge and another for Neo Química Arena. Others will go to public schools, such as EMEF João Ramos and EMEF Francisco Rebolo.
