Corinthians keep strong record in knockout matches since early 2025

Last Sunday (1st), at the Mané Garrincha Stadium, Corinthians defeated Flamengo 2-0, with goals from Gabriel Paulista and Yuri Alberto, and claimed the Supercopa do Brasil title for the second time in its history. With this result, the Alvinegro Paulista further increased its impressive record in knockout matches since 2025.

According to statistics provided by the R10 Score app on its official X (formerly Twitter) profile, since last year, Corinthians has played 20 knockout matches, achieving 15 wins, three draws, and only two losses, resulting in an 80% success rate. Additionally, the team scored 27 goals and conceded only ten, keeping a clean sheet in 14 matches.

These numbers have earned Timão the reputation of being a "cup team," and rightly so. During this period, the team won three titles: the Campeonato Paulista and the Copa do Brasil in 2025, and the Supercopa do Brasil in 2026. The first victory was under the command of Argentine coach Ramón Díaz, while the other two were with Dorival Júnior, the current Corinthians coach.

In the 2025 Copa Libertadores, Corinthians was eliminated in the preliminary phase, while in the same year's Copa Sudamericana, the team was knocked out in Group C. In 2026, the Parque São Jorge club will compete in the main South American competition and will enter directly into the group stage.

While there are no new knockout matches to play, Timão will take the field this Thursday (5th) at 8:30 PM (Brasília time) against Capivariano, for the sixth round of the 2026 Campeonato Paulista. The match will take place at the Neo Química Arena.
