According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, a red alert for severe winds in the province of Castellón has led to the suspension of all grassroots football on Saturday at regional level. The reserve clash between Castellón B and Barcelona Atlètic is also in jeopardy and is likely to be called off, pending confirmation from the Real Federación Española de Fútbol.
The Segunda RFEF fixture was scheduled for Saturday at 16.00 at Gaetà Huguet in Castellón de la Plana. The warning for hurricane-force gusts has pushed the game towards postponement.
The City Council has ordered the suspension of all sporting activities, both outdoors and indoors, on Saturday.
The Emergency Coordination Centre of the Generalitat has issued a special notice after a red alert was activated across the province, citing extreme wind risk on Saturday.
Aemet expects gusts to top 140 km/h under red level and 100 km/h under orange, with inland peaks beyond that threshold and around 130 km/h on the coast, and advises heightened vigilance and attention to official notices.
It remains to be seen whether the match could be moved to Sunday, when winds are expected to ease, or postponed without a new date.
