A Castellón supporter has put his wedding on alert after vowing not to marry if the play-off clashes with his big day. With the team one game from their goal, the light-hearted pledge has caught the mood of fans dreaming of a top-flight return after 35 years.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the promise began at Christmas during a meal with friends. Checking the calendar, they noticed that finishing sixth could coincide with the ceremony, sparking his off-the-cuff claim. A friend filmed it, which ensured the joke stuck.

The story snowballed in Huesca, where his stag do doubled as a trip to back Castellón. Friends produced a banner and a custom shirt for the weekend around the city and the stadium. The sign was seen as a lucky charm in the victory and he plans to bring it again next Sunday, joking that any final answer may not arrive until 6 June.

At home, his fiancée, also a club member, has taken it in good humour while setting clear limits. His friends, meanwhile, are already plotting a fallback plan if sixth place triggers a clash, even if it means slipping out after the first afternoon cocktails.

He says players they met in Huesca were warm and shared a laugh, and after he broke into the Tincho dance one suggested he would copy it on the pitch if they are promoted.

Looking ahead, he feels Sunday’s win restored Castellón’s front-foot risk and intensity without the ball. They now control their fate against Eibar next Sunday. For him, making the play-off would be a resounding success, and promotion would be the season of their lives.
