As reported by as.com, Castellón have completed the signing of 21-year-old Basque midfielder Gaizka Alboniga-Menor after his Athletic Club spell ended, and he will alternate first-team call-ups with minutes for the reserves.

The Artea native was developed almost entirely at Lezama, joining at under-12 level. He progressed through Athletic’s ranks to CD Basconia and Bilbao Athletic, before drawing a line under his time there this summer.

Last season he was prominent for Basconia, playing 23 Segunda RFEF matches and scoring six goals. He also debuted for Bilbao Athletic in Primera Federación, appearing in two games during the 2025/26 campaign.

The previous year he played 32 times in Tercera RFEF and again scored six. In 2023/24 he made 25 appearances for Basconia, adding one goal.

A left-footed mediocentro standing 1.81 metres, he contributes to build-up play and times his runs into the box. Across his last three seasons with Basconia he has 14 goals.

For Castellón, it is a move for a young player already seasoned in youth football’s upper tiers and Segunda RFEF. The club intend for him to develop inside their structure while competing for first-team chances.
