SkyFi Castalia is set for CD Castellón’s biggest night in decades, with a play-off berth for LaLiga EA Sports at stake against SD Eibar. An occasion that could define the albinegros’ season.
According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, Pablo Hernández’s side qualify with a win, any slip leaves them counting scores, while Eibar must win and hope. Kick-off is on Sunday at 18.30.
Tickets are sold out apart from seats released by members who cannot attend. The club urges a total sell-out and hopes to top the 14,201 who watched Castellón v Racing, the season’s best crowd.
If Castellón win they make the play-offs, if they lose they do not. A draw puts attention on Deportivo v Las Palmas, Almería v Valladolid, Zaragoza v Málaga and Burgos v Andorra. The team could finish anywhere from third to eighth.
The team bus welcome is on calle Huesca at 16.30, 120 minutes before kick-off. From 17.30, the stadium atmosphere should be fierce. Bring paper shreds, confetti, balloons and toilet rolls for the welcome only, not inside, as LaLiga has banned them.
Fans are asked to put phones away during the bus arrival, media will capture the moment. Be exemplary with visiting Eibar, who have been given 550 tickets.
Expect a tight contest with nervy spells, even setbacks such as going behind, a penalty or a red card. Fan groups Fondo 1922, Fedpecas and the Pasión Albinegra twinning are all contributing. Whatever the outcome, it is Castellón’s best season in 35 years, worth savouring.
