SkyFi Castalia staged CD Castellón again on matchday two, a day of upgrades and remembrance as home fans honoured Luis Cela.

It was the ground’s first Castellón fixture since early June, the first leg of the promotion play-off. El Periódico Mediterráneo reports that the club honoured their 1970s captain with big-screen images and an address, met by a long ovation after he died weeks ago aged 89.

A minute’s silence remembered season-ticket holders lost last season, and the club supported animal shelter Manada Feliz.

New features included an away end, the UCO control room, VIP seating and moved press desks. About 350 Sabadell fans were in Gol Norte Alto, and queues and congestion drew complaints from home supporters.

The UCO room in Preferencia Alta replaces the old away section and meets LaLiga security rules. A new VIP zone in Tribuna Alta has shifted media to Gol Sur Alto, prompting some season-ticket relocations.

The pitch looked below par, and head coach Pablo Hernández said the club spoke with LaLiga about a possible postponement. President Haralabos Voulgaris attended along with municipal sports councillor Maica Hurtado.

Castellón made a late change when Jakobsen felt a muscle twinge in the warm-up, so Pablo Santiago started. It remains to be seen if Jakobsen can play next week. Sabadell’s Edgar González, son of former Castellón striker Lluís, was later seen with ex-team-mate Juanjo Nieto at Real Oviedo.

Castellón visit Celta’s B team on Monday 31 August at 21.30.
