CBF released on Saturday the VAR audio from the review that led to a São Paulo penalty against Santos at Morumbis, in a rescheduled 21st-round Campeonato Brasileiro match played on Friday.
The federation said the on-field review reached the correct outcome, stating that Lucas Veríssimo’s pull on Ryan Francisco interfered with the forward’s action and stopped him continuing the contest for the ball.
The incident came in the first half. Referee Matheus Delgado Candançan initially judged the contacts between the players insufficient for a foul and let play continue.
VAR official Caio Max Augusto Vieira then identified a left-hand tug by Veríssimo on Francisco’s shoulder after the challenge and recommended an on-field review.
After checking the monitor, Candançan awarded a penalty and booked Veríssimo, concluding the pull affected the attacker’s shot. Luciano converted to put São Paulo ahead.
Santos overturned the deficit with two goals from Gabigol to win 2-1.
